The Global Pictures Desk is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and speed of delivery of Reuters News Pictures to our clients worldwide. The Gdansk Pictures Desk is currently the oldest established hub of the Global Pictures operation.
We are looking for a Picture Editor in Gdansk, Poland. This is an independent role without direct reports.
As our Picture Editor, Gdansk Global Pictures Desk, you will:
Organize the work of a small team of editors and monitor their activity, give feedback and work on schedule
Maintain clear communication with the overseas desks and between pictures and other departments
Act with urgency and drives the edit of planned or breaking news stories.
Apply your proven news judgement and take decisions based on workflows that are in place, reacting with urgency at breaking news
Understand the news cycle and the production process of the whole agency.
Drive and motivate the team and have an active interest on developing/training new people.
To be our Picture Editor, Global Pictures Desk - Reuters, you will likely have:
Minimum 3 years of service in a previous role covering or editing major news, sport, business and entertainment stories for the wires
Strong picture recognition skills
Initiative to excel in self driven or assigned projects and responsibilities.
Strong computer skills and extensive experience working with a remote team
